- Put clean, undamaged apples in jars washed with soda and doused with boiling water, shifting them with sprigs of mint, raspberries, black currants, lemon balm, cherries to taste.
- The top layer should be leaves, which should be tamped tightly.
- Add dry mustard (no more than a tablespoon).
