How does unhealthy weight go away and desired slimness come to be? Mainly thanks to diets and exercise. A great addition to this combination is a massage designed for weight loss. Those who love water can choose the procedures of the relevant type.

What Is Better – Swimming Pool, Bath, or Shower?

How is it possible to massage the problem areas with water? Let’s consider different ways.

Home Options

The most luxurious, though not inexpensive, one can admit the presence of a shower stall or a bathtub with hydromassage in one’s bathroom. Plumbing stores sometimes offer this equipment in a huge number of options.

Maybe now it is the moment when you are facing the remodeling of your bathroom? Then think about it: perhaps you should allocate additional funds to have an opportunity to receive hydromassage at home for weight loss (raising tonus, getting rid of tiredness).

Such plumbing is good in the sense that it lets you set not only the water temperature but also the power of the jets. This allows for regulating the force of impact (pressure) of water on the body.

Recommendations. Water pressure during abdominal massage should not exceed one atmosphere. It is permissible to impact thighs at two to three atmospheres. Higher pressure usually causes unpleasant/painful sensations.

Does your home bathroom have a minimalistic style? Even in this case, you can arrange sessions of water self-massage, especially if you buy a special nozzle for a shower. It would be ideal if you could switch the modes with a special lever on it.

Hydromassage Bathtub for Weight Loss

Several rules below are true for any home hydromassage:

  • water must be warm or cool;
  • you need to change the water temperature a little, sometimes making it higher, sometimes lower, but without making the drops too abrupt;
  • it is also recommended to change the water pressure, making it slightly weaker or a bit stronger;
  • duration of the procedure is 20 minutes maximum.

Of course, at home, especially in the absence of a special bathtub or shower stall, water massage for weight loss will be less effective than in health and recreation centers (clinics, salons).

In the Swimming Pool

If you have a chance to attend a good swimming pool, then one of the best ways to lose weight – swimming – is available to you. This activity simultaneously combines both physical activity and massage.

Modern Swimming Pool with Equipment for Hydromassage

Fact. Water is 800 times denser than air (that’s why you can hold on to it, and in the thick of it, it is so difficult to move at a walking pace). While swimming, water resistance gives a little, but distinct massage effect.

Swimming pools of health-improving centers are often equipped with waterjets for hydromassage. Thanks to that, you can alternate in the swimming pool between swimming and water massage for weight loss.

If you arrange swimming and massage sessions two to three times a week for a month, the positive result will show itself quite quickly and noticeably. This option is the best for losing weight in thighs and buttocks (to additionally fight those extra pounds in these areas, you can perform simple but effective exercises that we previously wrote about).

Charcot’s Shower

Such a shower was invented still in the century before the last by Jean-Martin Charcot, the founder of neuropathology. Like many medical inventions, it was created for one purpose (treatment of nervous diseases), but in our time, it solves various tasks.

Charcot’s Shower

Charcot’s shower is successfully used for weight loss, but it should be performed only in health and recreation facilities. The procedure is carried out in a special room:

  • the patient stands by the wall (quite often, there are handrails which are very comfortable to hold on to);
  • a healthcare worker directs one to two jets onto the body and makes some manipulations with them;
  • at the end of the procedure (they take about five to seven minutes on average), you must dry your body with a towel and then have a rest.

Charcot’s shower is a very effective activity. Ten sessions with an interval of one day are enough to agree with this statement. Powerful water jets not only help lose weight but also help against cellulite. However, the procedure is not always and does not suit everyone’s taste. Even relatively low pressure can cause unpleasant sensations, although there should normally be no pain.

Underwater Shower

Another professional type of hydromassage. To perform the procedure, the patient lies down in a rather large bathtub (usually 2 x 1 x 0.8 m) equipped both with waterjets and with showers with various nozzles. Water can be fresh, sea, or mineral (it depends on the establishment’s capabilities).

Professional Type of Hydromassage – Underwater Shower

Massage is performed by a specialist who works on problem areas with the help of showers. Everything happens approximately as in a regular massage: intense water effects alternate with relaxing ones.

The duration of each procedure, just like the total number of sessions, is discussed with a specialist from the massage center and/or a healthcare physician.

What should be the basis for choosing a method? The best variant is a doctor’s consultation.

How Does Water Massage Work?

In general – as any other (for example, for losing weight in the abdominal area and sides). You shouldn’t believe that water can “beat” the subcutaneous fat out of the body or wash away the lipid surplus through the pores. However, there is no need to doubt the fact that the blood circulation, lymph movement, and metabolic processes will be activated. Besides, with rather strong water pressure (Charcot’s shower), the muscles reflexively tense up, which helps even more in losing weight.

It is important to not forget that hydromassage on its own won’t help get rid of significant weight surplus. It is effective only in combination with a diet and manageable physical activities.

Nuances and Contradictions

In any hydromassage, there should be no impact on mammary glands and armpits, groin, face, genitals. It is absolutely forbidden to perform the procedures for people who have:

  • oncological diseases;
  • venereal diseases;
