Many people are surprised by the fact that nutritionists offer a fasting day on chocolate for quick and delicious weight loss. Can such a high-calorie and sweet product actually help you lose weight? It turns out that miracles do happen, and we still don't know much about our own bodies. If you're afraid of bland hunger strikes, this option is a real find for you.

Slimming mechanism

Nutritionists have long developed a chocolate fasting day, studying its effect on the body up and down. Weight loss is possible thanks to cocoa beans, which:

  • prevent the development of insulin resistance (which is the most common cause of obesity) and improve the regulation of glucose consumption;
  • support a healthy intestinal microflora, which helps food digest faster;
  • eliminate inflammation in the body, which can cause weight gain;
  • reduce depression, eliminating the need to "seize" stress;
  • accelerate metabolism;
  • effectively break down fats, removing them from the body (though it's a rather protracted process that can't be completed in one day, but at least you'll start it).

So it turns out that chocolate, despite its high calorie content (500+ kcal per 100 g), is just as useful for weight loss as many other dietary products. The results of such fasting days are proof of this. You can lose up to 1.5 kg if you do everything right.

Origin of the name. The word "chocolate" comes from the Mayan language, where "xocolatl" meant "bitter water."

Advantages and disadvantages

When choosing to lose weight with this treat, you need to know the potential benefits and pitfalls.

Advantages:

  • prevents cardiovascular diseases;
  • reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks by preventing blood clots;
  • is a preventative measure against diabetes, as it controls the body's absorption of glucose;
  • normalizes blood pressure;
  • improves vascular elasticity;
  • alleviates autoimmune diseases;
  • stimulates intellectual activity, improves memory, and activates thought processes;
  • antioxidant substances prevent the formation of tumors;
  • polyunsaturated acids remove harmful cholesterol.

Disadvantages:

  • damages tooth enamel;
  • causes food addiction;
  • high calorie content;
  • minimum daily portion causes hunger pangs, which can be very difficult to endure;
  • monotony of the diet;
  • side effects include nausea and dizziness;
  • fainting is possible;
  • often provokes gastrointestinal disorders;

Significant harm from such fasting days can only be felt in extreme cases: when contraindications were ignored or the recommended dosage was increased.

Additional information. Chocolate improves heart function, strengthens, and clears blood vessels of cholesterol plaques.

Contraindications

Don't consider chocolate fasting days if you have the following contraindications:

  • allergy to cocoa beans;
  • pregnancy;
  • diabetes;
  • obesity;
  • hypotension;
  • gout;
  • urolithiasis;
  • joint diseases;
  • insomnia;
  • metabolic disorders.

Of course, 100 g of chocolate eaten per day will not provoke an exacerbation of gout or osteochondrosis, but unpleasant side effects are quite possible.

Did you know that… chocolate contains "theobromine,” a substance that makes this product toxic to animals?

How to choose?

The range of chocolate today is so diverse that the problem of choice involuntarily arises. Porous, dessert, vegan, diabetic, powdered, liquid… Which variety will contribute to the most significant weight loss on a fasting day? After all, if you make a mistake with this issue, you might gain weight instead of losing it.

  • Black / dark / bitter

The optimal option recommended by nutritionists is to lose weight on bitter chocolate. The percentage of cocoa beans responsible for weight loss is the highest in it: above 55%. It's better to choose products with at least 75% cocoa; it will be more useful. This product is labeled "bitter." If the numbers are lower, the packaging will say "dark" or "black."

  • Milk

Of course, losing weight on milk chocolate is much more enjoyable, as it tastes very soft and tender, literally melting in your mouth. However, the cocoa bean content in it is minimal, meaning that all the hardships of a fasting day may go completely unnoticed. Dry milk or cream with a 2.5% fat content is not a dietary product, and there is practically no benefit from them. So nutritionists do not recommend this type.

  • White

You can find anything on the Internet. Even such a paradox as a fasting day menu for white chocolate. Although this delicacy contains not a single gram of cocoa beans, which are what start all the processes in the body that lead to weight loss. So you can't find anything more useless for fighting those extra pounds.

Other varieties also have no value in losing weight, so you can decisively ignore them.

This is interesting. The most expensive chocolate is "Chocopologie by Knipschildt." 453 g of this delicacy costs $2,600.
