For many, it is surprising that in dietetics a chocolate day of fasting is offered for fast and enjoyable weight loss. Can this high-calorie and sweet product help reduce weight? It turns out such miracles happen, and we still don’t know much about our bodies. If you are afraid of bland starvation, this option is a true find.
Fat Burning Mechanism
The chocolate day of fasting was developed a long time ago by nutritionists, and its effect on the body has been studied far and wide. Weight loss is possible thanks to cocoa beans, which:
- prevent the development of insulin resistance (it is the most common cause of obesity) and improve the regulation of glucose consumption;
- support a healthy microflora of the intestine, thanks to which food is digested faster;
- eliminate any centers of inflammation in the body that can trigger weight gain;
- reduce depression, so that it’s no longer necessary to “seize” stress;
- accelerate metabolism;
- efficiently break down fats, removing them from the body (however, this is a rather protracted process that cannot be completed within one day, but, at least, you will start it).
As a result, it turns out that despite its high calorie content (more than 500 kcal per 100 g), chocolate is as useful for weight loss as many other dietary products. The results of such fasting days prove this. If you do everything right, you can lose up to 1.5 kg.
Origin of the name. The word “chocolate” comes from the Mayan language, where “xocolatl” meant “bitter water”.

Did you know that… chocolate contains “theobromine” – a substance that makes this product poisonous to animals?
Choosing
The choice of chocolate is so diverse today that the problem of choice is inevitable. Porous, dessert, vegan, diabetic, powdered, liquid… Which variety contributes to maximum weight loss as part of a fasting day? After all, if you make a mistake in this matter – instead of losing extra weight, you can, on the contrary, gain weight.
- Dark/ Bitter/ Black
The best option recommended by nutritionists is to lose weight on dark chocolate. The percentage of cocoa beans, which are responsible for weight loss, is the highest: more than 55%. It is better to choose products with a percentage starting from 75% – there will be more benefits. This is the product that is called “dark”. If the numbers are lower, the packaging will say “dark” or “black”.
- Milk
Undoubtedly, losing weight on milk chocolate is much more pleasant, since it has a very soft and delicate taste, literally melting in your mouth. However, the content of cocoa beans in it is minimal, meaning that all the hardships of fasting day may be unnoticed. Moreover, powdered milk or cream with a fat content of 2.5% in its composition is far from being dietary, and there is practically no benefit from them. Thus, nutritionists do not recommend this type.
- White
You can find anything on the Internet. Even such a paradox as a fasting day menu with white chocolate. Although the composition of this treat does not contain a single gram of cocoa beans, which trigger all the processes of weight loss in the body. Thus, nothing more useless for fighting extra kilos can be found.
Other varieties are also of no use in weight loss, so you can safely avoid them.
Interesting fact. The most expensive chocolate is “Chocopologie by Knipschildt”. 453g of this delicacy costs $2,600.
