Kiwi is a mandatory participant of a festive table: fruit salads, cocktails, tartlets with berries. However, we are interested in its benefits for weight loss. Nutritionists have long included this fruit, also known as “Chinese gooseberry”, in the list of “correct” products. We will tell you about a fasting day on this fruit.
Benefits
This berry came to us from China. The wild predecessor of modern plants was brought to New Zealand, where, after selective breeding, it acquired the taste and appearance that is known to millions of fans today. The fruit is valued for its unusual taste: a mixture of gooseberry, banana, melon, strawberry, apple, and pineapple. Their benefit lies in their unique composition and calorie content.
Low Calorie Content
100 g contains only 50 kcal. This calorie content is equivalent to zero. All energy is spent on the digestion process itself. Therefore, you can eat kiwi in unlimited quantities without worrying about weight. For fasting day, 1 kg is usually recommended. This is 500 kcal.
Biologically Active Substances
Contains the unique enzyme actinidin, which is similar to digestive enzymes in its properties. It breaks down proteins and speeds up metabolism. Body fat is consumed faster, kilograms go away. Kiwi is very good to eat with meat and other “heavy” foods.
Dietary Fibers
They are almost not digested. Passing through the intestines, they “grab” all the toxins that accumulate there due to improper diet. Everyone knows about the benefits of vitamins and minerals. Here is what distinguishes kiwi from the general range of fruits and berries:
- A huge amount of vitamin C. 100 g contains the daily intake. This is higher than in all citrus fruits and bell peppers. This is not directly related to weight loss, but such a “bonus” is very useful for immunity.
- Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant that slows down the aging process and prevents the formation of atypical tumor cells. Contained in high-calorie foods – eggs, nuts, oily fish. People who monitor their weight usually do not use such a menu, which leads to vitamin E deficiency. Kiwi can solve this problem.
- Niacin (PP) lowers triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood. This is vital for those who suffer from severe obesity (prevention of heart attack, stroke, diabetes).
- Of the trace elements, iodine is especially important for those who are losing weight. It is necessary for the thyroid gland, without which normal weight management is impossible.
The composition is also rich in vitamins A, group B (B1, B6, B12, B5), calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus. Such a variety, combined with low calorie content, guarantees excellent results in weight loss without harming health. After all, the lack of nutrients is the main reason why nutritionists do not welcome the passion for diets.
Preparation
For maximum effect (you can lose up to 1.5 kg of weight per day), proper preparation is important:
- The day before, we stop eating fatty and “unhealthy” foods (we exclude foods with dyes, preservatives, fried, smoked dishes).
- The last meal is no later than 18:00, it is better if it is just a glass of kefir.
- We prepare 2 liters of non-carbonated mineral water and 1 kg of kiwifruit in advance.
How to choose a quality product?
Each of us has probably at least once in our life bought unripe fruits. What a disappointment when, instead of a delicious sweet treat, you get something that goes straight to the trash? To avoid such mistakes, remember the simple rules:
- In terms of consistency, we choose the golden mean: too hard – these are unripe, but very soft – most likely overripe or even spoiled.
- In terms of color: we look for a uniform greenish-protective color and a small fluff. If there are dark spots or uneven “hairiness”, it is better not to take such fruits.
- By smell: fresh fruits do not smell. During long-term storage, a “winey smell” appears – this is a sign of spoilage.
- A special place is where the stalk was attached. If a drop of juice appears after pressing, the storage was incorrect.
- Additional coating: it should not be there! This is a sign of mold.
And finally, it is better to buy fruit not in a ready-made package, but by weight. The fact that they are slightly more expensive is not accidental. Thus, sellers confirm that it is easier to hide spoiled products in ready-made packages.
Options
Option 1. Basic
The classic kiwi fasting day includes the following menu:
- Kiwifruit – 1 kg.
- Skinless chicken breast – 1 piece.
- Still water and green tea – 2 liters.
It is better to boil the meat on the same day in the morning. We divide the products into 6 equal parts. It turns out one meal every 2 hours. In between, we drink water and tea without sugar.
Why chicken breast?
- It is almost pure protein, which is guaranteed not to be deposited as fat.
- Protein is digested longer and causes a prolonged feeling of fullness.
- It is also an excellent building material for muscle tissue. If you arrange such days regularly and combine them with physical exercises, you can lose 4-6 kg per month and make your figure slim and fit.
How often can you fast? Usually nutritionists recommend once a week. If more often, then it is stress, which can end with a “breakdown” and weight gain.
Option 2. With kiwifruit and kefir
Kefir is added to the menu as an alternative to meat.
- It contains just as much protein.
- It normalizes bowel function, improves the composition of beneficial microflora.
- It has a pronounced diuretic effect, promoting weight loss.
It is recommended to drink up to 1 liter of kefir throughout the day. Some of it can be mixed with sliced fruit and made into a cocktail. Result – minus 1 kg of weight per day.
Option 3. With kiwifruit and apples
This recipe is suitable for those who like to diversify their diet. Apples can not only be eaten raw, but also baked (of course, without sugar). They contain more carbohydrates, which is an additional advantage for those with a sweet tooth.
Recipe: combine products in equal quantities (0.5 kg each, you can have a little more) in any way. The main thing is to eat 5-6 times a day and drink plenty of water or green tea without sugar.
Option 4. With kiwifruit and cucumbers
