No festive table is complete without kiwi: fruit salads, cocktails, berry pies. But we are interested in its benefits for weight loss. Dietitians have long included ‘Chinese gooseberry’, as it is also called, in the list of ‘approved’ products. We will tell you about a fasting day on it.
Benefits
This berry is native to China. The wild ancestor of modern plants was brought to New Zealand, where after selection, it acquired the taste and appearance that is known to millions of fans today. The fruits are valued for their unusual taste: a mixture of gooseberry, banana, melon, strawberry, apple and pineapple. Their benefit is in their unique composition and calorie content.
Low calorie content
100 g contains only 50 kcal. Such calorie content is equivalent to zero. All energy is spent on the digestion process itself. Therefore, you can eat kiwi in unlimited quantities without worrying about your weight. For a fasting day, it is usually recommended to eat 1 kg. This is 500 kcal.
Biologically active substances
Contains the unique enzyme actinidin, which is close in properties to digestive enzymes. It breaks down proteins and speeds up metabolism. Body fat is used up faster, and kilograms go away. Kiwi is very good to eat with meat and other ‘heavy’ dishes.
Dietary fiber
Practically not digestible. Passing through the intestines, they ‘cling’ to all the toxins that accumulate there due to improper nutrition. - Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant that slows down the aging process and prevents the formation of atypical tumor cells. It is found in high-calorie foods—eggs, nuts, fatty fish. People who watch their figure usually do not use such a menu, which leads to a deficiency of vitamin E. Kiwi can solve this problem.
- Niacin (PP) lowers blood levels of triglycerides and cholesterol. For those who suffer from severe forms of obesity, this is vital (prevention of heart attack, stroke, diabetes).
- Of the trace elements, iodine is especially important for those who are losing weight. It is necessary for the thyroid gland, without which normal weight control is impossible.
The composition is also rich in vitamins A, B (B1, B6, B12, B5), calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus. Such a variety, combined with low calorie content, guarantees excellent weight loss results without harm to health. After all, the lack of nutrients is the main reason why dietitians do not welcome the passion for diets.
Preparation
In order to get the maximum effect (you can lose up to 1.5 kg of weight per day), proper preparation is important:
- On the eve, we stop eating fatty and ‘harmful’ food (we exclude products with dyes, preservatives, fried, smoked dishes).
- The last meal is no later than 6:00 p.m., it is better if it is just a glass of kefir.
- Prepare 2 liters of still mineral water and 1 kg of kiwi in advance.
How to choose a quality product?
Surely, each of us has bought green fruits at least once in our lives. What a disappointment it is when instead of a delicious sweet treat, you get something that goes straight to the trash? In order not to make mistakes anymore, remember the simple rules:
- We choose the middle ground by consistency: too firm—these are green ones, but very soft ones are most likely overripe or even spoiled.
- By color: we look for an even greenish-protective color and a small fluff. If there are dark spots or uneven ‘hair’, it is better not to take them.
- By smell: fresh fruits do not smell. During long storage, a ‘wine smell’ appears—this is a sign of spoilage.
- A special place—where the stem was attached. If a drop of juice appears after pressing, the storage was incorrect.
- Additional plaque: it should not be there! This is a sign of mold.
And finally, it is better to buy fruits not in ready-made packaging, but by weight. No wonder they cost a little more. Thus, sellers confirm that it is easier to hide spoiled products in ready-made packages.

Option 1. Basic
A classic kiwi fasting day includes the following menu:
- Kiwi—1 kg.
- Skinless chicken breast—1 pc.
- Still water and green tea—2 liters.
It is better to boil the meat on the same day in the morning. We divide the products into 6 equal parts. It turns out eating every 2 hours. In between, we drink water and tea without sugar.
Why chicken breast?
- This is practically pure protein, which is guaranteed not to be deposited in the form of fats.
- Protein is digested longer and causes a long-lasting feeling of fullness.
- It is also an excellent building material for muscle tissue. If you arrange such days regularly and combine them with physical exercises, you can lose 4-6 kg in a month and make your figure slim and fit.
How often can fasting be done? Usually, dietitians recommend once a week. If more often, then this is already stress, which can end with a ‘breakdown’ and weight gain.
Option 2. With kiwi and kefir
Kefir is added to the menu as an alternative to meat.
- It contains the same amount of protein.
- It normalizes bowel function, improves the composition of beneficial microflora.
- Has a pronounced diuretic effect, increasing the loss of kilograms.
It is recommended to drink up to 1 liter of kefir during the day. Some of it can be mixed with sliced fruit and a cocktail made. The result is minus 1 kg of weight per day.
Option 3. With kiwi and apples
This recipe is suitable for those who like to diversify their diet. Apples can be eaten not only raw, but also baked (of course, without sugar). They have more carbohydrates, this is an additional plus for those with a sweet tooth.
Recipe: Combine products in equal quantities (0.5 kg each, you can a little more) in any way you like. The main thing is to eat 5-6 times a day and drink plenty of water or green tea without sugar.
Option 4. With kiwi and cucumbers
