Shilajit (mineral pitch) is a natural product extracted from high mountain rocks, which is a viscous dark mass. It has long been used in Ayurveda, an alternative Indian medicine, and research has repeatedly confirmed its positive effect on the body.

Let’s figure out if it helps with weight loss, and if yes, how?

What is it?

The substance is formed in rock crevices under the action of rocks, microorganisms, plants, animals, and soil. In its initial form, it is pieces of a solid resinous mass with an uneven surface, black or dark-brown in color, and with a specific smell. Ingesting a substance in this form is unacceptable.

Products sold in pharmacies in the form of tablets or viscous mass undergo preliminary processing. They are purified by removing ballast materials (sand, rock particles), as well as organic compounds.

Mineral pitch is extracted in different regions of the planet. For example, there is Pamir shilajit, Altai shilajit, but their properties and effects remain identical.

Composition

The composition contains substances that have medicinal properties.

  • Vitamins

Strengthen the immune system, protect against external factors, such as sudden weather changes and poor environment. Help fight seasonal, viral, infectious diseases, have a beneficial effect on appearance – the skin looks healthy, hair shines.

  • Amino acids

Valine, methionine, tryptophan, etc. Trigger the increased production of collagen, enhance the body’s endurance, and prevent the development of insomnia and nervous disorders.

  • Macronutrients

Responsible for cell regeneration, stimulate metabolic processes in the body.

  • Enzymes and flavonoids

Accelerate natural processes in organs and tissues. Deficiency of these substances in the body leads to disruption of the functioning of organs and, as a consequence, to disease.

  • Organic acids and tannins

Fight intestinal infections, and can act as an antidote. External use of tannins is effective for cuts and other skin lesions, for infectious diseases of the mucous membranes.

Instructions

Simply taking tablets and hoping for a quick weight loss is the wrong approach. You need to take mineral pitch as an auxiliary substance, subject to active exercise and a healthy diet.

The substance has the following effect on the body of a slimming person:

  • normalizes metabolism;
  • triggers the process of active fat burning;
  • regulates the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • controls blood sugar levels, which eliminates acute hunger;
  • prevents exhaustion during the diet.

In order for the substance to start working as soon as possible, cleanse your body with a three-day diet before starting to take it. Eliminate:

  • fatty foods;
  • fried foods;
  • canned vegetables and fruits;
  • alcohol;
  • coffee;
  • strong tea;
  • bottled and packaged drinks.

Try to reduce the number of cigarettes, and it is better to quit smoking altogether. Within three days, you should consume no more than 1200 kcal per day with food. Eat foods that are rich in protein: dairy products, lean fish, and lean meat. There should be even more carbohydrates in the diet; these are fresh fruits and vegetables.

On the fourth day, start taking mineral pitch twice a day on an empty stomach:

  • in the morning half an hour after waking up;
  • in the evening one hour before dinner.

Shilajit in tablets is washed down with mineral or boiled water; weak green tea without sugar or additives is allowed. The tablets usually contain 0.2 g of the substance. The single dosage is 0.2-0.5 g, depending on your weight:

  • up to 70 kg – 1 tablet;
  • over 90 kg – 2.5 tablets.

You can take shilajit for weight loss for 20 days. If the result is not fully satisfactory, repeat the course in 10 days.

You can take it in its pure form or as a part of a healthy cocktail. The recipe is simple – mix purified water (300 ml), shilajit (1 tablet), natural honey (1 tablespoon), lemon juice (2 tablespoons), and powdered ginger root (1.5 teaspoons). Let the mixture brew for half an hour. Drain before use. The cocktail should be drunk according to the same scheme as the pure product – twice a day before meals.

External use

Taking shilajit internally is not the only way to use it. If it is used for external purposes correctly, external transformation of the skin can be achieved: cellulite disappears, and visible stretch marks are reduced.

  • Baths

Dissolve 10 g of the substance in one liter of heated water. If you use natural 100%-pure product, you will get a cloudy solution, but without sediment. Pour the solution into a bath with warm water. You do not need to fill it to the top – when you are immersed in water, the solar plexus area should remain above the water.

Take a bath for 20 minutes daily for 15 days. If you feel unwell, it is better to stop the procedure.

It is useful to combine it with water massage. Such baths help fight age-related changes in the skin, cellulite, stretch marks, and pigmentation.

  • Wraps

Wrapping with shilajit is effective against cellulite; the procedure stimulates blood circulation in the skin cells and increases skin elasticity.

Dissolve the substance in warm water (3 g per 1 teaspoon), add 3 tablespoons of honey and 3 tablespoons of cosmetic oil (olive, almond, jojoba). Mix the ingredients and let the mixture brew for about half an hour. During this time, it is advisable to take a shower using a scrub or a hard brush. Apply the mixture to the problem areas and wrap them in plastic wrap. After 20 minutes, wash off with warm water without detergents and apply a nourishing cream.

To achieve a visible result without any health risks, you will need about 10 procedures with 2-day intervals.

  • Cream

It helps well with stretch marks. Take 6 g of shilajit and mix it with 80 g of baby cream. If you are not using tablets, but a paste, dissolve the substance in a spoon of warm water and then mix it with the cream. The tablets should be previously crushed into powder. Massage the problem areas of the body with the prepared cream for half an hour. The recommended duration of the course of procedures is one month.

Before using shilajit, be sure to consult a doctor – there may be contraindications. For example, people with diabetes, when taking it internally, should reduce the insulin dose. Other contraindications include poor blood clotting, presence of tumors, unstable blood pressure, pregnancy, childhood, and old age.
