Pumpkin became famous not only for turning into a carriage in a famous fairy tale. This fruit contains a lot of useful substances: fiber, vitamins, and an impressive mineral composition. It’s no accident that nutritionists often regret that most ordinary people undeservedly ignore this vegetable.

Pumpkin oil is a kind of concentrate of all the nutrients that this fruit has to offer. It is a product rich in B vitamins, vitamins A, E, vegetable and fatty acids, phospholipids, flavonoids, and carotene (it’s carotene that gives many pumpkin varieties their characteristic orange hue).

What properties of pumpkin oil make it a dietary supplement for weight loss? Perhaps you have encountered the opinion that this product (when ingested) breaks down the subcutaneous lipid layer, thereby removing all unnecessary substances from the body. Such a point of view is tempting but incorrect. Here’s what really happens:

  • Improves pancreas function;
  • Activates digestion;
  • Helps the body eliminate waste products.

Scientific fact. Under normal conditions, subcutaneous fat breaks down only during muscle activity, i.e. during physical exertion. The simultaneous activation of metabolic processes creates favorable conditions for weight loss.

Another important condition is a balanced diet. If your diet contains a lot of refined fats and “fast” carbohydrates, pumpkin oil at best will help slow down the formation of new subcutaneous fat.

Recommended Dosage

So, how to use pumpkin oil for weight loss? Recall how new foods are introduced into a child’s diet. Typically, very small amounts are given at first. The same is true in this case.

The recommended starting volume of the product is one teaspoon. Add just this amount of oil to your salad, ready-made sauce, slightly chilled porridge, or a serving of soup (if it’s the kind eaten cold). Any dish where vegetable oil is used without heat treatment will do.

Important! Heating pumpkin oil is unacceptable, since it almost completely deprives it of all its useful properties. Storage conditions are also important: in a dark place at a temperature of no higher than 25˚С.

It is advisable to start trying any product in a quiet environment. After all, no one can completely rule out allergies or individual intolerance. Even for those who eat squash with pleasure and without the slightest discomfort to digestion.

Another important point to keep in mind is the possible increased peristalsis. If this happens smoothly, you can only be glad of such an effect. However, diarrhea is also possible, which can be dealt with by taking sorbents, drinking plenty of fluids, and resting.

Does your body favorably accept the new product? If desired, the “dosage” can be slightly increased. However, you should not completely replace the vegetable oil in your diet with pumpkin oil. The maximum allowable rate is no more than three tablespoons per day. A larger amount can adversely affect the pancreas.

If the tolerability is good, you can try another way and start drinking pumpkin oil in pure form for weight loss. The regimen is simple: one teaspoon one hour before meals, up to three times a day. The reactions of your own body will tell you a more accurate regimen. Perhaps, for someone, a single dose will be enough to obtain the desired effect.

The aroma and taste deserve a special mention. Opinions about these characteristics are directly opposite. Some praise the specific aroma and flavor notes, while others are not enthusiastic about them, to say the least. Are you one of the latter? You can reduce the unpleasant aftertaste by drinking the oil with a few sips of any natural juice. It is undesirable to use water for this purpose. Another option is to eat a small piece of bread (oat, buckwheat), or a crouton. Keep in mind that crispbread itself has a stimulating effect on the intestines, so the body’s reaction to such combinations of products should be monitored.

This oil is not right for you? Don’t despair, because there are other, no less interesting ones: sea buckthorn, castor, black cumin, coconut.

Contraindications

The main ones are disorders of the pancreas and gallbladder, especially with stone formation. In second place are diseases of the digestive tract, such as gastritis and ulcers.

With the following conditions/diseases, pumpkin oil should be used only after consulting a doctor:

  • Pregnancy/breastfeeding;
  • Diabetes (of any type);
  • Any diseases of the internal organs.

With the rational use of pumpkin oil for weight loss, it is possible to achieve significant progress, provided by dietary restrictions combined with feasible and acceptable physical activity.
