Holosas for Weight Loss: How to Combine It with Traditional Laxatives

Fat burners and diet pills will put a heavy strain on your pocketbook if you decide to purchase these expensive pleasures when trying to lose weight. This is when you start looking for budget replacements — affordable drugs. In such cases, over-the-counter herbal medicines often come to the rescue. Recently, there has been a growing trend for using Holosas, a hawthorn fruit syrup with a choleretic effect, for losing weight. Is it a naturopathic “far-fetched” effect or a real assistant in the fight against extra pounds? All about Holosas Holosas is a medicinal product made from hawthorn fruit extract in the form of a syrup. It has pronounced choleretic and hepatoprotective effects. It is prescribed for diseases of the gallbladder and liver. As a plant-based preparation, it is considered to be as safe as possible. It is inexpensive (about $1 for 100 ml). It is available over-the-counter at pharmacies. It can be given to children and the elderly, which sets it apart from similar drugs. Recipes for its use as a means for losing weight appeared not so long ago. Since it is a choleretic syrup, it “flushes out” harmful substances along with bile, thereby purifying the body and improving digestion and liver function. As a result, all this should lead to weight loss. There is no scientific evidence for this effect, although the reasoning sounds quite plausible and reviews indicate that the method can indeed yield results. Before making a decision about losing weight using this method, you need to understand that this drug is intended for completely different tasks — losing weight is not its function. Therefore, you will bear full responsibility for all possible consequences. Before taking Holosas, it is highly recommended to undergo an examination, consult a doctor about the possibility of taking it, and also carefully study the instructions for use in order to exclude unforeseen situations. Composition Many are interested in what exactly Holosas is made of. Its main raw material is hawthorn fruit. It contains a huge amount of useful substances. The chemical composition of hawthorn fruit, which is almost completely preserved in Holosas: Holosas contains only two active ingredients: 25% hawthorn fruit extract — 40% of the total composition; sucrose — 60%. Such a composition should be a warning to those who plan to lose weight in such an unusual way. Despite the high content of the main active ingredient and the absence of additional “chemistry”, there is too much sucrose. Pay attention to the calorie content of the syrup — 400 kcal. Yes, dosage is minimal, but it will still add to your total daily caloric intake and blood sugar level. Dosage forms The main form of production is syrup. Currently, only one company produces tablets with the same composition and pharmacological effect — Holosas-pharm (Ukraine). Color — dark brown. Taste — tart and sweet and sour, with a pronounced hawthorn aroma. Some find it too sweet and sugary, so they prefer to dilute it with water. Odor — tart and pungent. Consistency — thick, uniform. Packaging — glass bottle with various volumes, from 120 to 300 ml. Usually sold in a cardboard box. Pharmacological action Before starting to use Holosas for weight loss, you need to find out what it is used for in medicine in order to understand its effect on the body. Its main purpose is to eliminate stagnation of bile in the gallbladder, where it ends up after being produced by the liver. It is released into the intestines in portions during meals in order to accelerate and facilitate the process of digestion. Statistics show that 20% of people have stagnant bile in their gallbladder, but most are not even aware of it, although it has sad consequences for their health: impaired digestion; slowed metabolism; heartburn first appears, then gastritis, and an ulcer forms in the end; impaired liver function, since it is not clear how much bile to synthesize: as usual (necessary for well-being) or less (since too much accumulates). Holosas prevents the development of all these unpleasant consequences by eliminating stagnant bile. Pharmacological functions: “flushes out” bile; has a general tonic effect; increases immunity; accelerates tissue regeneration; reduces vascular permeability; activates carbohydrate and mineral metabolism; has anti-inflammatory properties (mild). At the same time, losing weight is not one of its functions and it does not have fat-burning properties. Indications Indications for use will surprise those who want to use it for weight loss: hypovitaminosis; poor appetite; stagnant phenomena in the gallbladder, hepatitis, cholecystitis (except calculous), cholangitis, hepatobiliary tract; poisoning (alcohol, narcotics, drugs); excessive physical activity (including overtraining in athletes); weakened immunity. One of the indications is clearly not suitable for a weight loss program — poor appetite. That’s why the syrup is often given to children with poor appetite. However, in the case of extra pounds and a problem with overeating, this point becomes risky and can disrupt the desired goals. Contraindications The instructions often fail to list all contraindications. Experts warn that the list should be expanded: diabetes; individual intolerance; predisposition to allergies; pregnancy, lactation; bronchial asthma; cholelithiasis, obstruction of the biliary tract, calculous cholecystitis; gastritis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer disease (only during exacerbation); cardiovascular insufficiency, thrombophlebitis, cerebrovascular accident, endocarditis; kidney disease. Manufacturers often do not include cardiovascular diseases and kidney pathologies among contraindications. However, cleansing the liver and removing bile does not always have a positive effect on their condition and this should definitely be taken into account when taking the drug. Side effects The instructions rarely list side effects that may arise from taking the drug. However, they sometimes appear in reviews. You should be aware of them: allergic reactions: itching, erythema, rash; dyspeptic phenomena: nausea, flatulence, diarrhea, bloating, discomfort in the epigastric region, heartburn; decreased blood pressure; increased acidity of the stomach. Overdose is unlikely. Instructions for use Detailed instructions for use are provided in the instructions for use. Therefore, you should definitely read them before using Holosas. How much to take? Dosage for adults: 1-2 tablespoons 2-3 times a day. Dosage for children: 2-3 years — ½ teaspoon; 3-6 years — 1 teaspoon; 6-12 years — 1 dessert spoon 2-3 times a day. Note: These figures can vary, depending on the manufacturer. Some do not recommend giving the syrup to children under 12, while others say from 2 years old. You need to specify the dose and frequency of use independently, based on the recommendations given in the instructions attached to the drug. Usually this is 1 tablespoon 2-3 times a day.
