There are many reasons for gaining excess weight, and for each person they are usually individual: stress, physical inactivity, heredity, postpartum period, age… The list goes on and on. Each of these factors needs to be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. If you are sure that your problem lies solely in overeating and you are unable to control yourself, then you can find a way out. Try to start using herbs that quickly and for a long time dull the appetite and suppress the feeling of hunger. Then you will not have to reproach yourself for an extra bun, and the plant origin of the products used will only have a positive effect on the body.
Impact on the body
Recently, it is herbs with precisely this effect that have become a magnificent alternative to medicines for weight loss. Some of them achieve the result by removing excess fluid (diuretics), others – due to active fat burning (fat burners), and still others – due to appetite control (hunger suppressants). From the point of view of doctors and nutritionists, the latter are considered to be the safest for health, since they have a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal tract. It is generally accepted to classify them as follows.
- Mucilaginous (covering)
Upon entering the stomach, such herbs coat its walls with a special mucous substance. For some time, it becomes a protective barrier against gastric juice. It is this juice that provokes the feeling of hunger. If you block it, the signal about the need to eat will not reach the brain. That is why you will not eat a large portion even when it is time for dinner. As a result, fewer calories will enter the body. Hence, the weight loss.
- Bulking
These appetite suppressant herbs are real sly ones. They have the ability to swell under the influence of moisture, thereby deceiving the body and forming the feeling of a full stomach. Accordingly, you will not be able to eat much. If, after a course of herbal treatment, you follow the principles of proper fractional nutrition, the weight that you have lost will not return. You will simply become accustomed to eating small portions.
- Acid neutralizers
Their action is also associated with blocking gastric juice. However, they differ from the first group in that they do not create a barrier in the form of mucous membranes. Such plants act directly on hydrochloric acid, reducing its concentration. No acid – no appetite. However, if these products are abused, you can seriously disrupt the work of the gastrointestinal tract.
- Sedatives
It is no secret that appetite very often arises against the background of stressful situations and emotional experiences. To reduce it, you need to calm down. It is not always easy to do it on your own. But antidepressant herbs will help you do it. In medicine, this is called “compulsive overeating”, and in everyday life – “emotional hunger”.
- Tonics
Many of us do not perceive these plants as medicinal, although they can be found in almost every home. We are accustomed to them as ordinary invigorating drinks. However, along with a burst of energy, they also dull the appetite. Most varieties of tea contain substances that contribute to this: caffeine, theobromine, theophylline. Their diuretic effect should not be forgotten either.
- Hypoglycemic
Herbs that reduce blood sugar levels primarily affect metabolic processes in the body. They contain inulin, which is known to many as a sugar substitute, a plant polysaccharide. It slows down the absorption of fats and easily digestible carbohydrates by the intestines and reduces the glycemic index of products. All this quite naturally blocks cravings for sweets and appetite.
To lose weight, you can choose herbs from any group, taking into account their effect on the body. All of them are aimed at reducing appetite and suppressing even the most brutal hunger.
Tip. If you often feel hungry between meals, always keep flax seeds soaked in cool water (they coat the stomach). As soon as you feel like having a bite to eat, take a small handful and slowly begin to chew. You will see – your appetite will be significantly reduced.

You just need to know where field horsetail, greater horsetail and wood horsetail grow, since they have specific properties.
Important. Can’t stop eating and constantly overeat? Try to start your meal with kelp salad. Although it is seaweed, in a sense it is also a herb. Since it has bulking properties, it will practically not leave any room in the stomach for other products.
