Benefits of mustard

This herb has been known to people for more than one century. People have different opinions about mustard, someone is delighted with it, while someone doesn’t accept it. The bitterness and pungency of many varieties are the reason for this.

Fun fact. In Ancient Greece, mustard seeds were an obligatory component of offerings to the gods.

When you are advised to use mustard oil for weight loss, are you hearing about a newfangled trend or a real chance to become lighter and slimmer? If you learn to use this product correctly, then the latter.

Benefits of mustard are really great. This plant is a real vitamin and mineral complex. The main vitamins are E, group B, and A. Although in small amounts, it contains important for us potassium, magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus. The fatty oil contained in the grains is rich in useful fatty acids for the body.

Relatively recently, it became known about the high content of brassinosteroids in mustard. This is a special class of phytohormones that support the body’s adaptive functions: resistance to stresses, climate and environmental changes, as well as various diseases.

The bitterness and pungency of mustard is the result of its essential oil content, and this is the main property that allows you to use mustard oil for weight loss. After all, the heat you feel means a significant stimulation of blood circulation and metabolic processes. And in the matter of getting rid of excess subcutaneous fat, this factor is very important.

Methods and rules of use

Inside or outside? Are there any restrictions on the amount of the product? These and other questions should be carefully understood by everyone, even if mustard is one of your favorite seasonings.

In food

The main question: how to consume mustard oil for weight loss? Many people are sure that the best thing is to drink it on an empty stomach. And at the same time endure the burning and bitterness, repeating the saying about beauty and sacrifice like a mantra. However, do many people manage to lose weight significantly, constantly experiencing negative emotions?

It would seem that fans of bitter tastes and hot seasonings can rejoice – mustard oil seems to be created especially for them. And here it remains only to apply medical knowledge: everything that can significantly burn the mucous membranes requires extremely careful use.

Conclusion: no consumption on an empty stomach! You just need to partially replace vegetable oil with mustard oil in your everyday diet. And start with just a few drops, carefully watching the reaction of your body.

Salad dressing, ready-made sauces, porridge – these are the main dishes to which it is recommended to add mustard oil. You cannot fry on it: useful properties will quickly disappear.

Is it absolutely impossible to change your diet? Don’t like the taste, or are there any contraindications to adding it to food? Then try external use.

Wraps

The simplest recipe: take 100 ml of olive oil and add 20 ml of mustard oil. Soak a thin soft napkin, gauze, or a wide bandage (in two or three layers) in the mixture. Wrap the problem area with the oiled cloth, and then – with cling film. Do not tighten your body or limbs at the same time, as if you want to squeeze out the subcutaneous fat. A tight bandage will make it difficult to move and can significantly disrupt the outflow of blood and lymph. And then, instead of a positive effect, you will only get discomfort.

You will find additional recipes for mustard wraps in our separate publication.

Another useful mixture for wraps: three tablespoons of honey plus two tablespoons of mustard oil. It is applied directly to the skin (without using a napkin, as in the previous case). Plus cling film on top.

You can read more about this method here.

Regardless of which recipe you use, it is recommended to wear warm clothes (for an additional thermal effect) and move during the wrap. In good weather, you can go for a walk or run in the park/square. At home, you can have a fitness session or do a thorough cleaning. The duration of any wrap is up to twenty minutes, the frequency is no more than three times a week.

And don’t forget about mustard baths for weight loss. They can also be effective in skilled hands.

Important! Be sure to do a skin test – how does it tolerate the product? A few drops applied to the bend of the elbow will show if there is any hypersensitivity or allergy.

Contraindications

Can the use of mustard be harmful? Yes, and some negative aspects have already been mentioned – possible burns, irritations, allergies/intolerance. Here are a few more diseases/conditions in which it is better not to use mustard oil:

  • gastritis;
  • gastric ulcer;
  • frequent digestive disorders (even without a specific diagnosis);
  • any diseases in the acute stage, especially with elevated body temperature.

Expectant/nursing mothers, people with serious somatic diseases need a doctor’s approval. Do you have cases of bradycardia, blood pressure disorders? And here you need either a doctor’s consultation or increased control over your condition.

Benefits of mustard oil for weight loss are undeniable only with proper use. The subcutaneous fat layer will not disappear if the diet is full of refined fats, and physical activity is minimal or completely absent.
