Kiwis are an indispensable holiday food: fruit salads, cocktails, berry pies. However, we are interested in their slimming properties. For quite some time, nutritionists have included “Chinese gooseberries” as they are also called, on the lists of “healthy” products. Below is some information about a kiwi-based fasting day.
Benefits
This berry originally comes from China. The wild ancestor of modern plants was brought to New Zealand where it acquired the taste and appearance familiar to millions of fans, by selection. Fruit is valuable for its exceptional taste: it combines gooseberries, bananas, melon, strawberries, apples and pineapples. Its benefits lie in its unique composition and low calorie content.
Low calories
100 g contain only 50 kcal. This calorie content is considered “zero”. All energy is spent on the digestion process itself. Therefore, kiwi can be consumed in unlimited quantities, without fear of gaining weight. It is usually recommended to eat 1 kg on a fasting day. This is 500 kcal.
Biologically active substances
Contains a unique enzyme actinidin, which is close to digestive enzymes in its properties. It breaks down proteins and speeds up metabolism. Body fat is used up faster and the pounds go away. Kiwi goes well with meat and other “heavy” foods.
Dietary fiber
It is practically indigestible. Passing through the intestines, it “collects” all the toxins that accumulate in it from unhealthy foods. The amount of such harmful substances increases when losing weight. When they are removed, food is broken down better, the toxic effect disappears, and the stomach feels lighter.
Biochemical treasure trove
Everyone knows about the benefits of vitamins and minerals. Here is some information on what kiwi can be distinguished by from other fruits and berries:
- A huge amount of vitamin C. 100 g contains the daily dose. This is more than in any citrus fruit or bell pepper. It is not directly related to losing weight, but such a “bonus” is extremely useful for the immune system.
- Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant that slows down aging and prevents the formation of atypical tumor cells. It is found in high-calorie foods – eggs, nuts, oily fish. Those who follow their figure usually exclude such products from their diet, which means they experience vitamin E deficiency. Kiwi can solve this problem.
- Nicotinic acid (PP) reduces blood triglyceride and cholesterol levels. It is critical for those suffering from severe obesity (prevention of heart attacks, strokes, diabetes).
- For those losing weight, iodine is the most important trace element. It is necessary for the thyroid gland. Without normal functioning of these glands, it is impossible to control weight.
The composition is also rich in vitamins A, B (B1, B6, B12, B5), calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus. This variety, combined with low calorie content, guarantees excellent results in losing weight, without harming health. After all, the main reason for nutritionists’ disapproval of diets is the lack of nutrients.
Preparation
To get the maximum effect (you can lose up to 1.5 kg per day), it is important to properly prepare:
- In the evening, stop eating fatty and “harmful” foods (exclude products with dyes, preservatives, fried, smoked).
- The last meal should not be later than 6 pm. It is best if it is just a glass of kefir.
- Prepare 2 liters of still mineral water and 1 kg of kiwi in advance.
How to choose a quality product?
Surely, each of us has purchased unripe fruit at least once in our lives. How disappointing when instead of a sweet and tasty delicacy you get something only suitable for the trash? To avoid mistakes in the future, remember these simple rules:
- As for the density, the golden mean is better: too hard means unripe, but very soft fruit is most likely overripe, or even spoiled.
- As for the color, look for a uniform greenish-protective color and slight fuzziness. It is better not to choose fruits with dark spots or uneven “hairs”.
- Smell: Fresh fruit has no smell. If stored for a long time, a “wine” aroma appears – this is a sign of spoilage.
- Pay special attention to the place where the stalk is attached. If a drop of juice is released when pressed, the fruit was stored incorrectly.
- Additional coating: it should not be! This is a sign of mold.
Finally, it is better to buy fruit not in ready-made packaging, but by weight. It is not in vain that such fruits are slightly more expensive. By doing so, sellers confirm that it is easier to hide spoiled fruits in prepackaged products.
Variations
Option 1. Basic
A fasting day on kiwi involves the following menu:
- Kiwi – 1 kg.
- Skinless chicken breast – 1 pc.
- Still water and green tea – 2 liters.
It is better to boil the meat in the morning of the same day. Divide the food into 6 equal portions. The output is 6 meals every 2 hours. Drink water and unsweetened tea in between.
Why chicken breast without skin?
- It is almost pure protein, which will definitely not be converted into fat.
- Protein takes longer to digest and keeps you feeling full longer.
- It is also an excellent building material for muscle tissue. If you arrange such days regularly and combine them with physical activity, you can lose 4-6 kg per month and get a slim and fit figure.
How often can you do a fasting day? Nutritionists usually recommend once a week. More often will be stressful, which can lead to a “breakdown” and weight gain.
Option 2. On kiwi and kefir
Kefir is introduced into the menu as an alternative to meat.
- It contains a comparable amount of protein.
- It normalizes bowel function and improves the composition of beneficial microflora.
- It has a pronounced diuretic effect, which enhances weight loss.
It is recommended to drink up to 1 liter of kefir per day. Some of it can be mixed with chopped fruit and turned into a cocktail. The result is minus 1 kg per day.
Option 3. On kiwi and apples
This option is suitable for those who like variety in their diet. Apples can be eaten not only raw, but also baked (without sugar, of course). They contain more carbohydrates, which is an additional plus for those with a sweet tooth.
Recipe: combine products in equal amounts (0.5 kg each, you can take a little more) in any way convenient for you. The main thing is to make 5-6 meals a day and drink plenty of water or unsweetened green tea.
Option 4. On kiwi and cucumbers
A fasting day on cucumbers is quite effective on its own. After all, this vegetable has no equal in terms of calorie content (only 14 kcal per 100 g). It consists of water (95%) and fiber, which is necessary for cleansing the intestines from toxins. You don’t need to worry about quantity. Usually 1 kg of each is taken, in equal parts, but if you wish, you can eat more.
